OK Borneo Headhunters Hat 2011 Participants, here’s some more details for those of you itching to know more about Sabah’s Hat tournament.
First, the Rules.
Borneo Headhunters Hat 11 Rules
Yes, the rules are what makes Ultimate Ultimate, so our tournament will follow them.
We follow the WFDF’s Latest Ultimate Rules. Learn it; love it; play it.
You have no excuses not to know the rules. Know your stuff when it comes to contact, fouls and especially the Spirit of the Game!
The the By Laws for the Borneo Headhunters Hat 2011 is as follow:
Captains
Teams will elect their own captains on Saturday morning.
Pick somebody who will champion the Spirit of the Game at all cost. Also good to have in a captain: Knowledge of the Rules, Knowledge of Game Plays and Experience.
Your captain must report to the Tournament Director by 08:30, Saturday morning with your team name, which you also have to decide on.
Game Duration
Total: 40 mins + 5 min half time (20 mins a side)
At Half Time, finish the current point. The time it takes to finish that point will be deducted from your second half.
Gap Between Games: 15 mins
Time Out: 1 per team per game (60 seconds only)
Winning Score
First to 15 wins, but lead by at least 2 points.
If by the 35th min there is no clear winner, a Cap will be called. Then teams will finish the current point and check the Leading Score, before they restart play. The first team to reach Leading Score + 1 will win the game.
Female Players
It is compulsory to have a minimum of 1 female player per point.
With Captains’ Agreement more female players can play per point, but never less.
The 2 Finals
Duration: 50 minutes + 5 min break.
Winning Score: First to 17 wins, win by 2 points (TD may call a time cap if the game drags on too long)
Other rules remain the same.
Scoring & Awards
There are 5 teams. Each team will play a Round Robin of 4 games.
After the initial Round Robin, the top 4 teams will play a 5th game each.
After each game, a team scores 1 point for winning, and 0 points for losing.
The more wins, the higher the rank. If several teams have the same rank, Point Differential will be used.
Point Differential = Offense Points – Defense Points
Example: Your team scores 10, your opponents score 4. Your Point Differential is 6 (10 minus 4)
Or: You score 7 and your opponents score 13. Your Point Differential is -6 (7 minus 13)
If after considering wins and Points Differential teams are still tied for a rank, a Boat Race consisting of no less than 7 players per team will determine the winning team.
The Losers’ Bracket will be played by teams ranked 3rd & 4th.
The Winners Bracket will be played by teams ranked 1st & 2nd.
The winner of the Winners Bracket will be the Tournament Champions.

No Moaning
The Tournament Director (TD) has the last and final say.
We have made every effort to balance the teams. Your team is what it is. Act like a champion and use what you have to overcome adversity.
Whatever happens to your team’s players on the day (no shows, upset stomachs, snowball in the eye) is your team’s fate and we cannot change it.
The Borneo Headhunters Hat 2011 wants to be known as the Best Spirited Tournament in Asia. Help us by being friendly, having fun and making good calls on the field.
Any incidents of excessively bad Spirit will be swiftly and efficiently dealt with by the Team Captains and the Tournament Director, which could include disqualification, revoked tournament privileges, being asked to leave or all of the above.
Winning is good, but playing well regardless of whether or not you’re winning, is better.
Let’s all be better! And have fun while we’re at it.
